🏖️ Playa Kenepa Grandi (Playa Knip) — Curaçao’s Most Famous Beach

If you’ve seen any photograph of Curaçao’s coastline, chances are it’s Kenepa Grandi — a sweeping crescent of white sand framed by limestone cliffs and set against the deepest shade of Caribbean blue. Located at the island’s western tip, this is the beach that defines Curaçao for most visitors.

What to expect: Soft white sand, calm turquoise water, excellent for swimming and snorkeling. Shallow entry makes it ideal for families. Facilities include parking, toilets, showers, and a small snack bar.

Cas Abao Beach — The Best Resort-Style Public Beach

Cas Abao offers the Curaçao beach experience most travelers picture: soft white sand, crystal-clear water, coral reefs just offshore, and full amenities. Palms provide natural shade, and the beach faces northwest so sunsets are spectacular.

What to expect: Lounge chair and umbrella rentals, a restaurant/bar, watersports equipment rentals, and excellent snorkeling directly off the shore. You’ll see sea turtles regularly.

Cost: Small entrance fee (approximately ANG 20–25). Chair/umbrella rental additional.

Best for: Families, couples, and snorkelers who want comfort. One of the best beach days on the island with minimal planning.

Playa Porto Mari — Curaçao’s Best Snorkeling Beach

Porto Mari has both a resort section with chairs and umbrellas and a free public section, making it flexible for any budget. The reef starts just meters from shore and stretches offshore — it’s widely considered the best shore-access snorkeling on the island.

Double Reef: The snorkeling here follows two parallel reef formations (hence “Double Reef”), giving you more marine life than almost any other Curaçao shore spot. Green sea turtles, angelfish, parrotfish, and seasonal stingrays are daily sightings.

Unique feature: One of the few Curaçao beaches with a wooden boardwalk out to the reef, making it easy for less confident swimmers to reach deeper water.

Mambo Beach — Beach Club Vibes

Mambo Beach is the social scene — a stretch of beach lined with beach clubs, restaurants, and bars that come alive in the afternoon. Expect music, cocktails, and a younger crowd. The water is calm and clear.

Forti Beach & Playa Piskado — Where the Locals Swim

Just minutes from the village of Westpunt, these two side-by-side beaches show a different side of Curaçao. Playa Piskado (Fisherman’s Beach) is famous for its sea turtles — you’ll almost certainly swim alongside a green turtle here. Forti Beach next door is a locals-favorite hangout with a casual bar right on the sand.

Best for: Turtle encounters without paying a tour price. Authentic local atmosphere. The seafood at Forti Beach Bar is excellent.

Daaibooi Bay — The Dramatic Wild Beach

Set inside a natural cove with steep cliffs on both sides, Daaibooi looks like something from a movie. The water is dramatic — deep blue-green against white sand and rugged rock. This is not always a swimming beach (surf and currents can be strong), but it’s one of the most photogenic spots on the island.

Best for: Photography, scenic drives, and travelers who prefer nature over amenities.

Kokolushi Beach — Curaçao’s Best-Kept Secret

Few tourists make it to Kokolushi, and that’s by design. Tucked behind a dirt track on the south coast, this beach rewards you with a pristine, nearly empty stretch of sand, shallow turquoise water, and a snorkel reef close to shore. There are no facilities — bring your own water, sunscreen, and snacks.

Best for: Travelers seeking solitude and unspoiled coastline. Excellent for a private picnic.
